New Owners' Committees in Dubai Aim to Empower Property Owners and Improve Communities

The Real Estate Regulatory Agency (RERA) at the Dubai Land Department (DLD) has announced the formation and registration of 127 new owners' committees across Dubai.

This initiative highlights RERA’s commitment to empowering property owners and encouraging active participation in community management, in line with Dubai’s ambitious goal to become a global leader in real estate.

RERA has received a large number of applications for owners’ committees, and approvals have been granted based on the set terms and conditions for both new and existing committees.

Dubai Real Estate Owners’ Committees:

This growing interest shows how eager property owners are to take an active role in their communities, following RERA’s call for all owners of jointly owned properties to register.

These committees play a vital role in improving the quality of life, promoting community well-being, and increasing resident satisfaction.

Registration is open to all eligible applicants, whether individuals or companies, but each committee is limited to nine members, highlighting the importance of applying early to be part of the decision-making process.

Owners' committees play a key role in promoting transparency and ensuring the sustainability of real estate. Property management companies will meet with the newly formed committees to elect a chairperson, a vice-chairperson, assign responsibilities, and begin carrying out assigned tasks.

These committees are also responsible for reviewing budgets, prioritizing maintenance, and managing shared services, helping to run jointly owned properties effectively.

RERA’s Oversight and Coordination:

RERA will oversee the workflow and coordinate between management companies and the owners' committees, making sure that everything is running smoothly and efficiently.

RERA also reaffirms its commitment to keeping direct communication with all property owners, whether individuals or companies, and invites them to join the owners' committees.

Applications from individual property owners will be reviewed and approved directly. Property owners from companies must submit their applications through property management companies, which will then submit the requests to RERA for official approval.

RERA’s strong commitment to these owners' committees reflects Dubai’s focus on maintaining the highest standards in real estate management and regulation.

These committees are an ideal way to promote community collaboration and protect real estate investments.

RERA is committed to ensuring that these committees help promote sustainability and improve the quality of life for residents throughout Dubai, aligning with the leadership’s goals to make Dubai the top destination for both living and working.

Eligibility and Registration for Owners’ Committees:

Eligible individual property owners can register for the owners' committees through DLD’s official website or the Dubai REST app, as long as they meet the required conditions.

These conditions include living in the property, having a valid Emirates ID, submitting a Good Conduct Certificate from Dubai Police, and paying all outstanding service fees.

These efforts show Dubai Land Department’s commitment to creating a transparent and efficient regulatory environment that encourages property owners to be active in managing their properties.

This, in turn, helps support sustainability and supports Dubai’s vision of developing a thriving, advanced real estate sector.
