Empower has partnered with Wasl Group to supply cooling services for the new ‘The Island’ project in Dubai. This deal aims to provide a cooling capacity of 23,853 refrigeration tons (RT), supporting Dubai’s goals for energy-efficient and sustainable city development.
About The Island Project:
The Island is a large, 10.5-hectare man-made island located near the famous Burj Al Arab and Jumeirah Beach. It is a luxury beachfront development that will include over 1,500 homes, such as high-end hotel apartments and villas. The project will feature three world-renowned hotel brands—MGM, Bellagio, and Aria—and an extended beachfront area with various restaurants, shops, and entertainment options. The cooling systems will start operating in the first quarter of 2028.
Energy-Efficient Cooling Solutions:
The agreement highlights the need for energy-efficient cooling in the Middle East, where the climate is very hot and energy use is high. Empower’s advanced cooling systems can cut energy use by up to 50% compared to traditional air conditioning. These systems help save energy and lower carbon emissions, making The Island project more sustainable.
Empower’s Expertise:
Empower is well-known for its energy-efficient cooling solutions and serves many large real estate projects, especially in the hotel sector. Currently, Empower provides cooling services to more than 21% of Dubai’s luxury hotels. Their systems are designed to meet the specific needs of big developments, ensuring they run smoothly and efficiently.

Empower is already providing cooling services for Wasl1, a major residential project with 13 towers and a total cooling capacity of 30,000 RT. The first phase of Wasl1 is already connected, and future phases will follow the agreement’s terms. Empower also supplies cooling to Wasl Tower, a 303-meter-high skyscraper on Sheikh Zayed Road known for its unique twisted design and the world’s tallest ceramic façade.
Looking Ahead:
With the launch of The Island project, Empower and Wasl Group are set to enhance Dubai’s real estate landscape further. The collaboration not only supports the current development but also sets the stage for future projects that prioritize sustainability and energy efficiency.
